Our Green El Camino

Rint1.jpg (11755 bytes)  Getting a new heater core, radio and dash vents.

In September of 05 we decided that she really needed some paint to cover the bare metal spots that were showing. Son and I removed all of the trim, emblems, bumpers and weather strip.

Had the bed and some parts for the black EC sandblasted. Looking back, I should have had the whole car blasted.

After it arrived home in primer, I began sanding with a long board and 180 grit dry paper.

This is the result and ready to go back to the shop. Again looking back, this car had been repainted poorly along the way. The green on the bottom of this door is original, I peeled the (re)paint and primer off with a razor blade.

After lots more priming and sanding and a much better tailgate, here's the first color. Yes, I sanded the bed too.......

  Both colors.

First day back home. Just the caps and trim rings made a BIG difference!

  Color sanding the clear coat.

Still not finished but we got the cover shot!!
